Hepadnavirus
Testing, Inc. can assess the efficacy of antiviral compounds against
hepatitis B viruses in either in vitro or in vivo systems. These test
systems are well accepted in the scientific community and are commonly
used in pharmaceutical development.
In
vitro models are available to assess the impact of a test compound on
the growth of:
•
duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) in primary duck hepatocytes
•
human hepatitis B virus in the HepG2 cell line
An
in vivo model using ducks infected with DHBV is also available.
Tests involve treating virus-infected ducks with a test compound and measuring
serum viral DNA levels using slot-blot hybridization or real-time PCR
assays.
